Layers & Texture
If you read my recent fashion favourites, you will know that Winter fashion for me is all about creating looks that incorporate textures and layers. You can make your outfits so much more exciting but still practical for the colder weather by layering a mixture of textures. By having a collection of capsule pieces in your wardrobe, layering different combinations can create many outfits, instead of buying new pieces. Budgeting tip if you are trying to save money right there.
The Faux Fur Gilet
I was kindly gifted this faux fur gilet from Cari’s Closet, a brand that offers cutting edge fashion in Ireland, U.K. I chose this piece as last year fur gilets were very much on trend and has continued into this Autumn/Winter, however, the style seems to have adapted slightly. Last year, the surfaces were flatter with a longer pile, but this year I’m seeing a lot more of this ‘panelled’ fur look in a much shorter pile – and it looks so chic! When it arrived, I couldn’t believe how soft and luxurious the faux fur felt, and the fit is perfect, considering it’s only available in One Size.
This gilet is a really fun piece that helps take a simple outfit to the next level. Because I wanted the beautiful burgundy colour to pop, I layered over a black and white outfit. Too much colour in the rest of the outfit would be too distracting and would take away from the centre piece of my look. The black and white knit is a new piece from Primark. I love the block panels and the sleeves as they are extra long with a tie up bow – such a cute finish! The jeans are from Topshop and have a coated finish which creates a leather-look, a perfect contrasting texture to the fur. The boots are also from Topshop but a couple of seasons ago. Barney’s Warehouse have a similar pair at a bargain discounted price!
How do you add layers and texture into your outfits? I’d love to hear!
