It’s September which means it’s Autumn which means pumpkin spiced lattes, candles, knitwear and boots -yay! I hate the cold but I must admit I get a warm, cosy feeling when I think of Autumn. Fashion becomes easier I think for us Brits. As much as I love summer, our weather is so temperamental that the California beach girl look I have in my head never quite looks how I planned. Not to mention the looks I get when I wear short-shorts. I start to get a self-conscious feeling that I have too much skin on show for my home turf, although abroad it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest.
When I think of Autumnal fashion, I get much more excited about the colours and textures. Being a brunette, I prefer wearing darker clothes to suit my locks and complexion. Dark hair and fair skin isn’t as ideal in the midst of Summer, hence my desperate desire to get some blonde highlights in the summer. The Autumn/Winter ranges out there on the high street are more extensive compared to summer in my humble opinion, and you can wear the same pieces more often by switching up your outfit. I adore a layered look, so shirts under jumpers, tights under skirts with a coat layered over the top brings a perfect vision to my mind.
I was about to mention velvet, leather and sequin textures for evening looks but I’m reminding myself that it is not Winter, it is only Autumn, Calm down Amy! So back to Autumn.. I’m excited for checked blazers, tweed skirts, duster jackets, boots, fringing, and maybe a bit of faux fur ha! I’m not falling into the ankle cuffs trend (yet)! Have you seen those?… What do you think!?
What else are you excited to wear this Autumn?
